The "HERO MOTHER" exhibition took place at MOMENTUM Berlin, in the Kunstquartier Bethanien Art Center, on 14 May - 12 June 2016, and was accompanied by a Symposium and Performance Program. The artists invited to take part in "HERO MOTHER" are contemporary women from places with communist legacies whose work addresses and defies, through a variety of media, the frighteningly regressive political agendas of many Eastern European countries today, outing this in the context of broader developments worldwide. This exhibition looks at the ramifications of traditionalist political forces as they are unleashed upon women, the queer community and other minorities at a time of increasingly resurgent conservative values. "HERO MOTHER: Contemporary Art by Post-Communist Women Rethinking Heroism" is an international exhibition of 30 women artists from 20 countries, focusing on the role of gender, citizenship, nationalism, migration and personal freedom, as well as relations between artists and state structures. Turba, Tamás Komoróczky, Katarzyna Kozyra, Jaroslav Kysa, Imre Lepsényi, István Máriás aka Pista Horror, Olivia Pendler, Dan Perjovschi, Societé Réaliste, Katarina Sevic/Gergely László subREAL, Ulrich Vogl Künstler der Programmreihe waren: Bankleer, Libia Castro/Ólaffur Ólafsson, Jakup Ferri, Ion Grigorescu, Raphaël Grisey, Tibor Horváth, IPUT/Tamas St. Der ungarische Philosoph Zsolt Pálfalusi entwickelt ein neues Konzept der partizipativen Philosophie und aktiviert deren kritisches Potenzial mit seinem Konzept der "Performer" und den "Informer" als Akteure philosophischen agierens. Der griechische Ökonom und Philosoph Georgios Papdopoulos reflektiert auf die Politisierung der Kunst im Zustand der permanenten Krise und hinterfragt das kritische Potenzial der Kunst inmitten der Krise. "Europäische Idee" in der zeitgenössischen Kunst die Produktionsvoraussetzungen sowohl materieller als auch ideeler Art beeinflusst und wie die Rolle der Künstler dadurch verändert wird. Ein Essay von der Kuratorin und Projektleiterin Kata Krasznahorkai thematisiert, wie die sog. Die Publikation ist eine Anthologie der dreijährigen Programm- und Ausstellungsreihe "KRITIK und KRISE" (2012-2015) im Collegium Hungaricum Berlin über die Relevanz von "Freiheit, Gleichheit, Brüderlichkeit" in der zeitgenössischen Kunst mit Fokus auf Mittel-Osteuropa.
